According to our car manual, the gear won't down shift to 2nd (eventhought we pull to 2) if still running on high speed to avoid over heating of gearbox. But better do not try.

Yes, I usually don't toy with the gearbox much. The only time I pull to 2 is when I pick up speed when the car starts from a stationary position e.g. at a traffic light. It kinda have a better acceleration and more uummphh!

My point of view:

M/T:
1) Control speed
2) Less 1 maintenance (don't have to check M/T oil)
3) Better for city and highway driving
4) A bit higher FC when on highway due to bigger gear ratio
5) Clutch plate wears slower. To change around 90,000km.

A/T:
1) Speed control
2) 1 more maintenance (need to check A/T oil from the dip stick)
3) Good for city better for highway driving
4) Better FC on highway cause of smaller gear ratio
5) Clutch plate wears faster

I still prefer M/T cause I enjoy playing with the speed of the car. Gives more kick.

it depend to individual. if you constantly driving in city, best is use auto... so that your leg wont get tired by pressing the clutch often (Manual).

M/T don't have to check too frequent. Thats why if you notice in your A/T, there's a dip stick, to check gearbox oil also. The oil is used to push the gears when needed.

For M/T, the gearbox oil is only used to lubricate the gears as the shifting is done by human.

Anyway, better take this topic to the right one.
