Went to Jinmin Auto to service my 20,000km ...

they said i need to change the ATF oil every 20,000km. So I kinda debate with them saying that booklet saying is 40,000km ... how come you said 20,000?

then he said if you are using SP III, then change every 20,000km. RM15 per litre.

if you using Dexron III, then change every 40,000km. RM35 per litre.

I was kinda puzzle. So i decided to put in original spec - SP III. I rather change it every 20,000km than 40,000km. Refreshing. Very Happy

SP-III only RM15/litre?? so cheap?? wad brand is tat?? Good??

how come Dexron III more expensive than SP-III? wad brand also?? i tot it's suppose to be d other way round! Shocked

not sure what brand they using. the ATF oil store in the big container... and then pump into the ATF inlet... and is red color.

SA said SP-III is cheaper and Dextron III is expensive... double than the cost...

so far driving for almost 3 days... my gear still smooth... no problem.

you can try and see. if afraid, then you better look for better ATF. cause i was caught in surprise when service my 20,000km. i thought only need to change ATF on 40,000km. so didnt provide my own ATF oil to them... so cincai let them do it lah.

guys,

i read thru some posting in autoworld ... is about Dex III and SP III.

please be careful when you changing to Dex III.

http://www.autoworld.com.my/forum/allposts.asp?summary=1&Forum=ap213145096&access=1&status=1&subject=Elantra+owners+switch+to+SPIII

note: even thought the car is elantra but still serve the same purpose on ATF.

Hi All,
I had just bought a 2nd hand Elantra year 03/04 and had all fluid flush including ATF. Just thought of sharing with you.

You may change your ATF to Hyundai original SPIII for RM 98 (4 litres), I
suggest that you do a ATF flush which require 8 litres, labour charge is
RM30. I did mine when I bought a 2nd hand and serviced at Cartech
opposite Honda showroom at Sg Pinang. The boss name is Mr Chuah. You may let him know that Ang recommend you (probably he forgot my name, tell him that I sent to him a few 2nd hand Elantra to check and finally bought this light Gold colour unit)

Experience a smoother gear box.....

Hi All,

Currently I am using Motul Dexron III ATF and the effect is better than Castrol TQ-SM ATF. Motul Dexron III is compatible with SP-III standard as I found few evidence on the net plus my own experience.

Just for sharing.

Use SP III, nothing else. Unless you mix HFM + Dex, but then the price comes back to about the same. Conclusion, use SP III, peace of mind.
