Hi all,

I'm fadd. I just bought a second hand accent 1.5m 2005. the problem is the earlier owner had installed the car with Jimota air filter and I feel my FC is quite high and lack of power for 2nd and 3rd gear at low rpm. Is it coz of the air filter?

Should i change to the original one or stay.

Where to get the original one and how much. Can i get from kedai potong?

Any advice?

hi fadd, are you refer to Simota air filter? issit drop in type? (pics will be good to tell).

original filter (new) is very cheap... can get it from KBSC (if we are talking about drop in filter here).

You can ask the mechanic if your air filter needs replacement when you next bring your car for servicing..

The original air filter from Kah Bintang around PJ/KL is currently at RM20.
note: prices may go up over time or go down during promotions. it is for reference only.

Have no idea what is the drop in filter. What i know mine one is using a 1.5ft steel from the injection and at the tail is the filter. Filter looks like half of the round shape.

May be like K&N type.

based on your description, the setting is called Open-Pod filter. these kind of setting normally will consume more petrol.

in this case, then u probably need to get the whole set of air filter element plus the compartment. can be costly...

call KBSC and ask them about it.

or maybe u can try trace back d 1st owner n ask whether he/she still keeps d original air intake assembly, or even d shop tat he/she do d modification tat u can go n check out. no harm trying i guess.

or u can even post in tis forum under Buying and Selling for those who had modified to open-type whether they can "sell" or "donate" u their original parts! i believe there are a few number of members who changed to open-type air intake and hopefully they still keep d original parts!

good luck! Smile

just my personal advice lah, listen or ignore it...

you should check wheather is it your air filter causes the problem.
how... maybe you should join the tt and change with other member (using original air filter) and test the power.
or maybe swapt it for one month... Razz Razz Razz

if you buy another one... maybe it's a waste of money if the original set is worse than the current one...

but if you can get from original owner... then it's better to do so. Wink Wink Wink

PS: sorry, I can't swapt with you Razz Razz Laughing Laughing Laughing
