the basic theory of power:

bigger combustion relatively creates more power. that means you have to either uses force induction within the same c.c. or get a bigger c.c. displacement engine.

other mods are all regain back lost to crank stuff only.

wah.. this is a very huge topic and guess what... there are no right answers. Why?.. because increasing performance is an art.. not science..

before this topic gets to a heated debate, may I ask all contributors and readers to keep an open mind and end of the day form your own conclusion..

Okie... if we concentrate on "other mods are all regain back lost to crank stuff only" that David mention then here are just a few things you can do... not in any order or preference..

1) Get better Spark Plugs (can gain 1 to 5 hp)
You can read up more about Spark Plugs in this forum at http://myaccentclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23

2) Change air filter (can gain 3 to 5 hp) -
There are several topics on Air filters under "Car Performance & Modification" that you can refer to. Again, form your own conclusion. I had a chat with the R3 head last week and he showed me how he manage to add 8hp (dyno tested) with his custom made air flow.

3) Change to performance tires. - http://www.tirerack.com
My 14" stock car tires are just too skinny for me as I like to take fast corners so I got wider tired and indirectly bigger rims (not too big or else lose performance..) and a good performance tire. I am very bias to keep my car korean so I stick to Hankook R2 tires. You will most probably get better answers at one of the topics in "
Wheel, Tyre, Suspension & Safe Operation" http://myaccentclub.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

4) Change to performance springs for better handling...

There are lots of stuff you can do... but I have to get back to work. Research the existing topics here and share with us what you think you would do and why..

I think jimmylee wanna know how to increase power on the accent, as in increase speed since he is emphasizing on turbo / supercharger.

I think modifying these can help:
1) Extractor / Exhaust
2) Cold Air Intake
3) Lightened crank pulley
4) Cam pulley
5) Cam shaft
6) Port & Polish

After those, you need to mprove your braking and handling. So be prepared to have lots of $$$ ready... And beware of the mod bug, u will never be satisfy with your mods.... there is always more..

Adding Piggy back type ecu or retune existing ecu will also help in terms of HP and torque.

For handling a good set of suspension will do the trick and sport rims as wat kingkong mention. Do some research before doing any mod.

Auto Transmission's pick up not that good. But change spark plug, plug cables (NGK), good airfilter like K&N drop in or open pod, full set exhaust system, this will help. also put pivot raizin spark (red).
