Marky, they charged me Chemlube 10W30 4L for RM176. Written on the bottle can go for 25,000 miles = 40,000 KM. But not dare to go till 40,000KM. I will change oil filter after 5,000 KM & change oil after 10,000 KM.

Before my 10,000KM service, i have called up Mr. Tommy who is the dealer for Chemlube M'sia (SS15). The price is same.

Its best to prectise what you've just mention. 5,000km for oil filter and 10,000 for engine oil. Best to do that after your 50,000km warranty if not, it will be a waste.
Btw,i've PM you.

Chinhai8, if i'm not mistaken all Chemlube oil (10W30 10W40 20W50) can use up to 40,000KM or 1 year. Below are the recommendation found in website:

10W30 - 0 to 5 years old car
10W40 - 6 - 10 years ols car
20W50 - above 10 years old car.

You may refer to www.chemlube.com.my for details.

10,000KM is too costly.. Evil or Very Mad
In ur case, I would advise u beter stay there & monitor what they are doing during the time, otherwise, go to other SC

I agreed with what Slbeh advise of 20,000km interval A/T oil change due to the climate of our country . I think the Ipoh KBSC just want to made more profit by asking owner to change it every 10,000km. Evil or Very Mad

What if it's M/T ? Crying or Very sad

One more VERY important QUESTION for a NEWBIE :

Can I change the oil filter without changing the engine oil ? cause when I change my oil filter in about 5,000 KM - I will not need to change the 10W30 chemlube (which can stand 10,000 KM)

THANKS

Yes, you can just change the oil filter without changing the oil after 5,000KM. But you may need to top up engine oil after changing oil filter.

UPDATE FOR MEMBERS ::: today 30th MAY 2007 :::

I got it today for 4L = RM184.00 ( 1 bottle = 1 litre = RM46.00 )
10W30

1.) Chemlube is ester-based. What does it mean ?

2.) And it's fully synthethic ? no minerals ?

Err.. if you are looking for chemistry lessons then click to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ester
Else the marketing mambo jumbo explanation from Chemlube about ester based products are as follow:

"Organic ester with its inherent high quality characteristics has proven to be the highest quality base material for synthetic oil used even by aeroplanes. Given the incomparable quality, CHEMLUBE synthetic oil remains committed to the use of organic ester although costs are about 40% more expensive than PAO or hydrocarbon synthetic oil."

In short... ester is organic.. this means your oil is fruit and veggie based.. but I do not recommend tasting it ya.. cause they still mix a lot of poison to make the end product.. Laughing

In the market there are fully synthetic and semi synthetic oil for cars. In general fully synthetic oils are advise to be replaces every 10km and semi synthetic oil at every 5km. I do not understand you "no minerals" questions.

Hi,
I had recently contact Tommy to check availability of CEHMLUBE in penang and he gave me a contact to Saber Motors in Greenlane. Anyone from Penang interested in trying CHEMLUBE can contact:

Lim Meng Tat of Saber Motors...Tel 012 4992002

surprisingly, they carry fully synthetic and semi-synthetic:
1) Semi- Synthetic - RM99 for 4 liter
2) F. Synthetic (10w30 - 46.5 PER LITER) (10W40 - 44.5 PER LITER)

i am gonna try this for my next oil change

Very Happy
